Asia Argento was born in Rome, Italy, into a family of actors and filmmakers. Both are careers she's pursued. In 1985 she made her acting debut in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. In 1988, she played the lead role in Cristina Comencini's first feature film Zoo (1988) in addition to in addition to being a part of Michele Soavi's cast for The Church (1989).
